Challenge
The Danielson team wanted a mobile app and a custom web interface to track vehicles in real time while analysing the corresponding vehicle data.
Goal 1
Be able to interconnect the application installed on tablets to vehicles via OBDII readers.
Goal 2
Be able to collect and transmit vehicle data in real time to a cloud server.
Goal 3
Be able to transcribe the data collected in the form of tables, graphs and maps.
Digital solutions implemented
Needs analysis
As a first step, we conducted a study of Danielson's needs. As the project required interconnections between different systems using different technologies, we had to ensure that the solutions put forward were feasible.
Drafting of functional specifications
We then developed very precise functional specifications to formalise the operation of the proposed systems. Our solution involved: an embedded system with 3G card, GPS, a Bluetooth OBDII reader and a web-accessible SaaS application.
Development of the Android app
For this project, we developed an Android app to be embedded on tablets present in the vehicles. These tablets are connected to the vehicles via diagnostic sockets (OBDII reader) and can be used to give instructions to drivers but also to collect data.
Development of SaaS software
Continuing the development of Danielson's embedded system, we developed SaaS software accessible from a web browser. This software tracks the data recorded by vehicles in real time via the OBDII port and also by tablets connected in 3G.
Technical details:
+ Live: real-time tracking of vehicle movements and journeys on a map
+ Driving: retrospective table of vehicle driving tests
+ Personnel management: personnel administration table
+ Checklist: list of checks made on test vehicles
+ Real-time speed: graph of the average speeds recorded by the vehicle and by the GPS during a test
+ Speed/time distribution: graph of time spent per speed bracket
+ Acceleration/time distribution
+ Altitude
+ Route: route taken by a test vehicle according to its speed
